Laptop touch pad won't work unless at certain angle?

Last night, my laptop's touch pad, which controls the cursor, stopped working. It'll just stay in one place, no matter how hard I try to get it to move. Sometimes it's will just jerk around and sometimes it won't do anything. That is, unless I hold it at a certain angle, but even then it's jerky. My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv600 and it's 1 1/2 years old. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it? It's really driving me insane!
