Did F D Roosevelt do anything for the blacks in America?

Roosevelt was the guy who threw every Japanese American into intern camps during World War Two. I have a hard time believing he was a great race relations type. Also , the only thing he did for the economy was spend huge amounts of money that we didn't have to absolutely no effect ( sound familiar ?) . Only the beginning of WWII changed everything. It's end got us on a new path economically.
